sol currently has three active project areas:
- revitalizing the ecology of our site

We have begun work on the other half of our garden. Here SOL members remove bermuda grass in preparation for sheet mulching. We will began planting in this area next spring.
creating community partnerships
Over the summer, SOL led a weekly workshop with the Youth Employment Partnership. TEAM OAKLAND participants learned basic gardening and construction techniques and made organic snacks with ingredients from our garden and created art which is displayed on our exterior fence. Our garden has been visited by other neighborhood youth groups and there is always someone around to give tours of our space.
developing cottage industry
Our greenhouse is filled with seasonal organic veggie starts. You can pick up some for your garden at Alameda Marketplace or by contacting us directly.
